Broome

Broome (2WD)

Has a population of about 16,000, that grows to up to 70,000 during the tourist season (winter). This makes it very hard to find accommodation, so you MUST plan ahead. 
The SDA Church property becomes an overflow caravan park, Phone 0403 792 811 for info.  Unfortunately they can’t take bookings.  Maximum stay is 7 days. 
Cable beach is generally safe to swim in  during winter with only very rare crocodile sightings.  Stingers are often present during summer months

Cable Beach (2WD)

Cable Beach is the iconic beach of Broome.  There are the occasional sightings of crocs, but it's generally very safe to swim during winter, but in summer there is the possibility of stingers. 

You can actually drive down on to the beach in a 4WD and head North, but be ready to let you tyres down! Start at about 25psi, but be prepared to go as low as 12psi in an emergency.  There have been many vehicles go under as the 10 meter tide rushes in very fast.

At the Northern end of the beach (near Willy Creek) is a reef that is exposed at very low tide often capturing, small sharks, star fish, octopus (including the very dangerous Blue Ring)

Gantheaume (2WD)

Gantheaume beach is accessed near the lighthouse and normal cars and buses can usually drive on to the beach.  A great spot for having dinner and watching sunset. (You are not permitted to drive all the way to Cable Beach).

Reddell Beach (2WD)

Reddell Beach has a mixture of red sand and rocks all the way down to beach with beautiful blue skies and torquoise water. 

Broome Port (2WD)

The Broome Port is very busy with cattle export and some minerals.  It has a very deep channel allowing passenger cruise ships to dock. 

It's a nice walk out on the jetty of an evening and and not a bad place to fish.

Staircase to the Moon (2WD)

The staircase to the moon occurs during the winter months when a full moon occurs with a low tide giving the effect of stairs leading up to the moon.

It's best viewed at Town Beach. 

There are usually lots of food vans and stalls.
